Je suis un allemand et collectionne des jeux.

I learnt French in school but almost never practiced it and don't want to be rude. If you rather want to keep it in French, please tell me so and I'll bow out. I'm a collector of the Ultima games and I am looking for some of the gems that were published in France.
As I'm also part of the Exult team that remade the original Ultima VII engine I'm a big fan of the Ultima VII games and game boxes.

It would be a pleasure to read more about your Ultima addiction. Tell us about your fascination for these games and your work on the seventh one.

I will have to write this in English :)
My Ultima addiction started with Ultima IV on the C64. A friend gave me his copy and I despaired as I understood nothing since I didn't have *any* manual. So I gave up :)

some years later, I finally got my own PC and started playing the Ultimas and started with Ultima VII and that might have been a defining moment :)
Then played part 8, the Underworlds, 4, 5 and 6 (I never finished U1,2,3).
And then I blew a semester of University on Ultima Online (and then gave up and since then barely touch online games).
But the games were hard to play on Windows, especially Ultima VII but then Exult (not allowed to post the link yet) came to the rescue and I started helping out with documentation and FAQ. These days I'm one of the few developers left and am working on the iOS port and still trying to fix little bugs.

Three years ago the collector's fever got me and I quickly became one of the big European Ultima Collectors with some signed ones, some really rare ones... The French Ultima VII box eluded me for a while but I found a decent version a couple of months ago.

Almost two years ago I met Richard Garriott the creator of the series at a big event on his big playground n Austin, Texas. Then a year ago, he came to Vienna for the Space Explorers meeting and I've met him there as well. And last year in February, there was the big UDIC (Ultima Dragons Internet Chapter - Ultima fan club) 25th anniversary bash at Disneyland LA, where I last met him.
So somehow this whole Ultima things quickly became a big fever :)
